William H Thompson, 1825-1906

  The funeral of W. H. Thompson was conducted from the church in Jerome on last Wednesday, the 7th.  Mr. Thompson died at his home west of Plano, on the 5th.  He was 80 years, 9 months and 5 days old. He has been a resident of Appanoose county sine 1854 and was highly respected. His wife died 10 years ago, and three children, two sons and one daughter, are left to mourn the father.  Burial at the Jerome cemetery.

Hannah E. Thompson, 1854-1921

  Hannah E. Thompson, daughter of W. H. and Marguerite Thompson was born in Appanoose County, December 7, 1854 and departed this life, December 18, 1921, aged 67 years and 11 days. One brother, E. M. Thompson and one niece, Mrs. Hixenbaugh with many friends are left to mourn her loss. While young in life she united with the Little Flock Baptist Church, southwest of Plano, remaining true to the Master until called to the better land. Funeral services were held from the Jerome church, conducted by Rev. J. D. Gunter. Burial was in the Jerome Cemetery.

  Hannah E. Thompson was born 7 December 1854 in Appanoose County, Iowa, daughter of William H. Thompson and Margaret E. Mitchell, died 18 December 1921 in Appanoose County, Iowa, and was buried in the Jerome Cemetery.  Hannah E. Thompson, 38, was married to Henry L. Powell, 38, on 7 January 1894 in Appanoose County, Iowa [Book 11, Page 599]. They were apparently divorced before 1900. 
  William H. Thompson, 28, was married to Margaret Mitchell, 28, on 27 March 1854 in Appanoose County, Iowa [Book 5, Page 152].  Margaret E. Mitchell was the daughter of Alexander W. Mitchell and Hannah Mitchell [1850 U.S. Census, Pleasant Run, Lawrence, Indiana].  
  William H. Thompson was born 31 May 1825, died 5 February 1906 and was buried in the Jerome Cemetery.  Margaret Mitchell Thompson was born 3 December 1823, died 11 December 1895 and was buried in the Jerome Cemetery. 
  Hannah [Mitchell] was born in 1786, died in 1881 and was buried in the Jerome Cemetery. She married Alexander W. Mitchell.

Willa Mae Thompson Norris, 1913-1988

  Willa Mae "Billie" Norris, 74, of Centerville died Sunday at her home.
  She was born Dec. 14, 1913 to William A. and Lillie J. Godwin Thompson in Garden Grove, Iowa. She married Percy E. Norris in Des Moines on Sept. 6, 1936.
  She attended Centerville schools, graduating in 1933. After her marriage she and her husband made their home in Centerville. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 6, 1978.
  Survivors are one daughter, Carolyn Owen of Centerville; three sons, John D. Norris of Estes Park, Colo., Robert E. Norris of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Richard M. Norris of Montgomery, Ala.; six grandchildren; three sisters, Winnie James of Weldon, Iowa, Carrie Spinks of Corydon, and Helen Leest of Redlands, Calif.; and three brothers, Wayne Thompson of Centerville, Carl Thompson of Promise City, and Don Thompson of Fairfield Bay, Ark.
  She was a member of the Gospel Church in Centerville.
  Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Miller-Wehrle and Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with her brother-in-law, Pastor George D. Leest of Redlands, Calif., officiating. Burial will be in the Jerome Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the "Christian Missions in Many Lands" and may be left at the funeral home.
