Maynard E. Neighbors, 1933-2016

  Maynard E. Neighbors, 83, of Naperville, formerly of Moline, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, at Spring Meadows Assisted Living in Naperville.
  Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military honors by American Legion Post 246.
Memorials may be made to Niabi Zoo, Coal Valley, or the Residential Hospice of Naperville.
  He was born April 7, 1933, in Grinnell, Iowa, son of William and Elsie M. (Williams) Neighbors. Maynard served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1953. On Oct. 31, 1959, in Moline, he married Rebecca “Becky” Langill, who survives.
  Maynard was employed for 40 years as a lithographer at Desaulniers Printing Company in Moline and Milan, last working in 1996. After retirement, he delivered the mail for Black Hawk College in Moline. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Moline, a life member of the Willard Velie VFW Post, a life member of the Cornbelt Running Club, and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason in Moline.
  In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Patrick Neighbors of Chicago; daughters, Amy (Daniel) Carroll of Aurora, Illinois, and Kelly (Michael) Flynn of Fort Myers, Florida; sisters, Mary Ann Gordon of Davenport, and Irma Jean Brandom of Moline; and three grandchildren.
  He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild.

..William Neighbors, 88, Cincinnati, died at his home Wednesday, Oct. 10, 1984.
..Born July 27, 1896, at Howland, Mo., he was the son of William and Mary Ellen Carter Neighbors.  He was married to Lillie Yost on Nov. 29, 1939, in the Baptist Church in Unionville, Mo.
..He had been engaged in farming all his life.
..Survivors include his wife, and nieces and nephews.
..He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
..Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Pastor Virgil Sweeney officiating.  Interment will be in Jerome Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday.

  Lillie Neighbors, 89, Cincinnati died Thursday, December 26, 1996, at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital.
  She was born Aug. 3, 1907, in Fairview, W.Va., the daughter of Louis and Addie (Shriver) Yost.
  She married William Neighbors Nov. 29, 1939, at the Baptist Church in Unionville, Mo.  He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1984.
  Survivors include three sisters, Ellen Condra of Seymour, Lela Radcliff of Chariton and Thelma DeVore of Promise City; and several nieces and nephews.
  Also preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters, Mary Yost and Rilla Yost.
  She was a graduate of Seymour High School and a member of the Seymour Methodist Church.
  Graveside services will be held at noon today, Monday, at the Jerome Cemetery with the Rev. Gerald Campbell officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9 to 11:45 a.m. today at the Lange Funeral Home.
