Gerald Davison, 1928-2004

  Gerald Davison, 75, of Centerville died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.  He was born in rural Moulton to Roy and Regina (Crow) Davison on March 22, 1928.  He attended Beetrace County School northwest of Moulton.
  Gerald was united in marriage on Dec. 25, 1948 to Evelyn Taylor at the Udell Brethren Manse in Udell.  The two farmed northwest of Moulton until they moved west of Numa and farmed until moving to Centerville in 1967.  After moving to Centerville he began his employment with Appanoose County Secondary Road Dept., where he worked 22 years before retiring in 1990 as the truck foreman.
  He is survived by his wife Evelyn; two sons, Harold and his wife, Beth, of Chaska, Minn., and Donald and his wife, Debra, of Centerville; five grandchildren, Michelle Reed and her husband, Harry, of Chariton, Melanie Maass of Creston, Deanna Moorman and her husband, Bill, of Centerville, Destry Davison of San Francisco, Calif., Danielle Davison of Centerville; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Bethel Ballanger of Coatsville, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Fred Earl Taylor and his wife of Ottumwa two sisters-in-law, Camielle Davison of Centerville and Esther Davison of Hubbard.
  Gerald was preceded in death by one son, Jerald Gene; his parents; and two brothers, Lloyd and Richard.
  Graveside service was held Monday at the Jerome Cemetery with Pastor Gale Bellinger officiating.  Visitation was Sunday at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home in Centerville.

Jerald Gene Davison, 1949-1959

  Jerald Gene, son of Gerald and Evelyn Davison, was born May 22, 1949 in Centerville and passed away June 26, 1959 at his home west of Numa, after being struck by a car, while riding his bicycle. He was 10 years, one month and four days of age.
  He lived with his parents on a farm northwest of Moulton until March 1957, and attended school at Moulton.
  Surviving are his mother, father, his twin brother Harold, and a younger brother, Donald; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Davison of Centerville and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Taylor of Iconium, and many other relatives and friends.
  Funeral services were held at the Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home in Centerville June 28, at 2:30 p.m.  The Rev. James Thomas officiated, and burial was in the Jerome Cemetery. “Precious Jewels” and “I Think When I Read That Sweet Story of Old” were sung by Mary McInnes, music by Belle Olds at the organ.  Pallbearers were Raymond Terry, Johnny Vidas, Merrill Condra and Bryon Condra.

A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.

  Mrs. Regina Isabella Davison, 84, a resident of rural route Coatsville, Mo. in Appanoose County (sic) for nearly three years and a long-time Centerville resident, died at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital in Centerville late Saturday afternoon, July 12.
  She had been in failing health several months, a hospital patient one day.
  Born Aug. 7, 1895 in Appanoose County, she was the daughter of Samuel [Marion William]* and Mary [Cornelia Isabel] Swank Crow.
  On Nov. 26, 1913 she married Roy Crow (sic) [Davison] at the Udell United Church of the Brethren. He preceded her in death Dec. 1979.
  Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Lloyd Davison; nine brothers, Leo [Fay], [Samuel] Floren, Carl [Okel], Gilbert [Clay], [Charles Herbert] Charley, [William] Glen, [James] Dellie, Ralph [Pleasant] and Fred [Lester] Crow; and two sisters, Alta [A.] Whisler and [Martha Alpha Elfa] Elsa Walker.
  Survivors include two sons, Richard and Gerald of Centerville; one daughter, Bethel Ballanger of rural route Coatsville, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
  The funeral will be held Tuesday, July 15 at 10 a.m. at the Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home with the Rev. Clark McKern officiating. Burial will be in the Jerome Cemetery. Visitation was Monday evening.
  A memorial has been established payable to the Easter Seals Foundation. Memorials may be given at the funeral home.

Roy Lovejoy Davison, 1891-1979

  Roy Lovejoy Davison, 88, a retired farmer and Appanoose County employee, who had resided at 423 East Van Buren Street in Centerville, died at the home of his daughter [Bethel Ballanger] near Coatsville [Schuyler County], Mo., Wednesday, December 5, 1979.  He had been in ill health and living at her home the past two years.
  Born May 8, 1891, near Moulton, he was the son   of Charles and Mary Ledbetter Davison.  On November 26, 1913, he married Regina Crow in Appanoose County, and she survives.
  When a young man he joined the Brethren Church in Udell.  The Davisons farmed south of the Mt. Ararat Church east of Centerville many years, and for five years of their 22 years in Centerville, he was caretaker of the Appanoose County courthouse lawn.
  His parents, a son Lloyd Davison, a grandson and two sisters, Blanche Crow and Flossie Sanders, preceded him in death.
   Survivors besides his wife include two sons, Richard and Gerald Davison, both of Centerville, one daughter, Mrs. John (Bethel) Ballanger, Coatsville, Mo., 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
  Services will be Friday, 1:30 p.m. at Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home in Centerville, with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Oelke officiating.  Burial will be in Jerome cemetery. A memorial to the Easter Seals has been established, and memorials may be given to the funeral home.

Richard Faye Davison, 1924-1992

  Richard Faye Davison, 67, a resident of 823 South 16th Street in Centerville, Iowa, died Thursday, January 9, 1992 at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Centerville.
  He was born on April 2, 1924 at Moulton, Iowa, the son of Roy and Regina (Crow) Davison. He was united in marriage to Camille Joanne Burley on July 14, 1945 at Centerville. She survives.
  He was born and raised on a farm near Moulton and farmed for several years. He worked at Firestone Tire Co. and also at Goodyear Tire Co. in Centerville with his good friend and owner, Bud McCarthy, for many years as a tire serviceman. His hobbies were leathercraft and long walks with his dog, Bo.
  He was a member and deacon of the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville and was an active member of the Appanoose Co. Animal Lifeline Inc. (Humane Society).
  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lloyd.
  Survivors include his wife, Camille of Centerville; one son, Ed Davison of Osceola; two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Victoria) Ryals of Unionville, Mo. And Mrs. Ron (Janice) Curtis of Orlando, Florida; 8 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; one brother, Gerald Davison of Centerville and one sister, Bethel Ballanger of Coatsville, Mo
  There will be no visitation. The body has been cremated.
  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 1992 at 2 p.m. at the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Duley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
  A memorial has been established in his memory to the Appanoose County Animal Lifeline Inc. (Humane Society) and may be left at the Duley Funeral Home in Centerville.

Evelyn Mae Taylor Davison, 1929-2013

  Evelyn Mae (Taylor) Davison was born August 13, 1929 south of Iconium, Iowa.  She was the daughter of Fred and Alice (Murphy)Taylor. She attended Shanghai rural school south of Iconium and graduated from Moravia High School in May 1946. [She died 25 January 2013.]
  On December 25, 1948 she and Gerald Davison were married at the Udell Brethren Manse. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2004.  They and their sons farmed northwest of Moulton and west of Numa. They moved to Centerville in February 1967. She soon began her employment at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital as a CNA. Fourteen years later she transferred to the laundry department.  She retired from the hospital after 30 1/2 years to care for her husband as he went to Ottumwa then Corydon for dialysis.
   She had several hobbies; such as crewel embroidery, counted cross stitch, crocheting, sewing for herself and quilts for some of the great grandchildren and gardening as long as she was able. he crocheted tablecloth, doilies, a bedspread and numerous afghans-baby and adult.
  She is survived by her two sons, Harold (Beth) and Donald (Debra)of Centerville, 5 grandchildren: Michelle (Richard) Blythe of Chariton, Deanna (William) Moorman of Centerville, Destry (Susie) Davison of Austin, TX, Melanie Dunphy of Griswold, Danielle (Ryan) Hodges of Centerville. 11 great grandchildren: Jared and Austin Ritenour, Jacen Reed,and Alex Blythe all of Chariton, Emma and Jacob Maass of Griswold, Garrett, Madison and Drennan Moorman of Centerville, Presley and Tage Davison of Austin, TX, a brother Fred Earl (Annabeth) Taylor of Ottumwa, sister-in-law Bethel Ballanger of Coatsville, MO.
  Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, a 10 year old son Jerald Gene, her parents, 2 sisters, Ruth Brown and June Young of Seymour and a cousin Floyd Green who lived his earlier years with the family.'
  Graveside service was held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Jerome Cemetery with Rev. Kay Singley officiating.  Visitation was Monday with the family at Thomas Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Jerome Cemetery or Mercy Medical Center- Long Term Care which may be left at or mailed to Thomas Funeral Home - 23548 Hwy 5 - PO Box 125 - Centerville, Iowa 52544.   Camille J. Davison, 82, of Centerville. passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Golden Age Nursing Home in Centerville.
  A memorial service will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville. Visitation begins at
10:30 a.m.
  Burial will take place at the Jerome Cemetery in Jerome.
  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association.
  Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton is in charge of arrangements.

  Camille JoAnn Davison was born Feb. 25, 1927 in Humeston to Ernest and Ruth Bessie (Day) Burley. She passed away May 10, 2009 at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Centerville at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 15 days.
  Camille was united in marriage to Richard Faye Davison in Humeston at great-grandma’s house July 14, 1945. To this union three children were born: Victoria, Edward and Janice.
  Camille’s adult life was lived in Centerville as a homemaker. She loved her position as homemaker and her goal was to be the best homemaker possible. She loved to cross-stitch but what she loved the most was her children, grandchildren and everyone she would meet. Camille had a special gift to be able to show love to everyone one she would meet. She always had a smile on her face and could always find the positive in a person and make the person she was meeting smile. One place you could find her every year without fail was at the Centerville’s Pancake Day. It did not matter what the weather was she would not miss the special day. She was a lifetime member of the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville.
  Camille was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 1992 and her parents, Ernest and Ruth Burley.
  She is survived by her three children: Victoria Ryals and her husband Ron of Unionville, Mo., Edward Davison and his wife Joyce of Red Oak and Janice Curtis and her husband Ron of Orlando, Fla.; three sisters-in-law: Evelyn Davison of Centerville, Bethel Ballanger of Coatsville, Mo. and Esther Davison; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; one aunt, Mary Barr of Princeton, Mo. and many many friends.
  Services were held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 13 at the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville with Pastor Ken Mehrhoff officiating. Serving as bearers were: Scott Dover, Bryan Ryals, Lynn Gray, Nathaniel Curtis, Joe Sivetts, Todd Vandemark, John Harrell and Jacob Curtis. Visitation took place one hour prior to the service. Camille will be cremated and will be buried at the Jerome Cemetery at a later time. Memorials may be made in honor of Camille to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Fielding Funeral Home of Chariton was in charge of the arrangements.
