Matilda 'Tilly' Micetich Vruble, 1915-2011

  NUMA — Matilda M. "Tilly" Vruble, 96, of Numa, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Philip and Jakomina (Polich) Micetich July 4, 1915 in Martinstown near Numa. She received her education in the Numa Community Schools in Numa.
  On July 29, 1933, Tilly was united in marriage to Stanley Vruble, Sr. at the St. Mary's Parish in Centerville. After their marriage, they lived in Jerome for a time then moved to Chicago, Ill. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. In 1957 they moved to Melrose Park, Ill. where she would work part-time at JC Penny's. They were members of Sacred Heart Parish. They made several trips back to Jerome and Centerville area to visit family and friends. Beginning in the summer of 1972, they would spend summer time in Numa and they would spend winters in Melrose Park. In 1998, they would move back to Numa, where she would enjoy her gardening and was a member of the St. Mary's Parish in Centerville.
  She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Stanley Vruble, Sr. on March 29, 1999; sisters, Mary Azzolin, Anna Vruble and Victoria Micetich; brothers, Phillip, Charley and Angelo Micetich.
  Tilly is survived by: her sons, Stanley Vruble, Jr. of Numa, Benedict Vruble of Wheaton, Ill., Ronald and his wife, Nancy Vruble of Aurora, Ill. and Kenneth Vruble of Wheaton, Ill.; a daughter, Marlene and her husband, William Snyder of Elmhurst, Ill.; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
  A Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with Fr. Dennis Schaab, CPP.S officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 25 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. and a Rosary held a 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
  Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church and left or mailed to the funeral home.

Angelo F. Micetich, 1912-2008

 Angelo F. Micetich, age 95 of Cincinnati, Iowa died May 20, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa.

  He was born on September 4, 1912, the son of Phillip and Jacquelin (Polich) Micetich in Numa, Iowa. He received his education in the Numa School and attended Trade School in Centerville, Iowa. At the age of 16, he began working in the Coal Mines and at a much later date moved to the Glencoe, Illinois area where he found employment by doing landscaping. He also worked at Brauns Oil Co. as a mechanic and welder for several years. 
  In 1939 Angelo married Mary Kauzlarich at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa. They made their home in Moline, Illinois, where he worked at the Bettendorf Aluminum Co. and The Rock Island Arsenal. Angelo joined the Navy in 1942 and was stationed at the Great Lake Naval Station. He was later transferred to Norfolk, Virginia and then to Naval Ship at Philadelphia, PA. 
  Angelo was always dreaming of being a farmer. In 1944 he purchased his first farm and he and Mary have lived there for the past 54 years. He enjoyed hunting, doing wood-working and visiting with family and friends. 
  He is survived by his wife Mary, one sister Matilda Vruble, a sister-in-law Lenora Burnett, a maternal nephew James Burnett, and a niece Mary Kay Vinton. Paternal nieces and nephews Tom Micetich, Phyliss Tracy, Margery Stickler, Marcella Doggett, Delores Smith, Margaret Engwall, Eddie Micetich, Butch Micetich, Stanley Vruble, Ron Vruble, Ben Vruble, Marlene Snyder, Ken Vruble, Jacquelin Vershoris, Shirley Vruble, James, Betty and Bob Vruble and Barbara Vruble. 
  Angelo was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Phillip, Charles, Mary Azzolin, Anna Vruble, Victoria Micetich, nephew Carl Micetich, great nephew Mike Micetich and a niece Florene Davis. 
  Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10 AM, Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Centerville with Father Joe Nassal C.PP.S. officiating. A visitation will be held Friday at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home from 9 AM- 4PM, with the family present from 6-8 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church that evening. A Scripture Service will be held Friday evening at 7 PM at St. Mary’s. A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association or the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St. Centerville, Iowa 52544. Stanley Vruble, Sr., 1910-1999

  Stanley Vruble Sr., 89, of Numa died Monday, March 29, 1999, at his home.
  He was born March 12, 1910, in Jerome, the son of Jacob and Louise (Czahara) Vruble.
  He married Matilda Micetich July 29, 1933, in Centerville. She survives.
  Also surviving are a daughter, Marlene Snyder and her husband, Bill, of Elmhurst, Ill.; four sons, Stanley Vruble Jr. of Numa, Ben Vruble of Melrose Park, Ill., Ronald Vruble and his wife, Nancy, of Aurora, Ill., and Ken Vruble of Melrose Park, Ill.; and five grandchildren.
  Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, John Vruble; and two sisters, Antionette Zurawski and Stella SenJanec.
  He received his education in Jerome. He worked as a coal miner and was employed as a machinist with AT&T when he retired in 1972. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville and the Sacred Heart Parish in Melrose Park, Ill., the AT&T Pioneers Club and the Nocturnal Adoration Society of Chicago.
  Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Miller, C.PP.S., officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. A funeral mass will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Mary's School Foundation and contributions may be left at the funeral home. 

John F. Vruble, 1908-1996

  Word has been received of the death of John F. Vruble, 88, in Taylor Ridge, Ill.
  He was born May 11, 1908, in Jerome, the son of Jacob and Louise (Zahara) Vruble.
  He married Anna Micetich July 16, 1932, in Centerville. She preceded him in death June 6, 1969.
  Survivors include five daughters, Jackie Verschoore and her husband, Joe, of Geneseo, Ill., Betty Vruble of East Moline, Ill., Phyllis Benac ad her husband, Lawrence, of Naperville, Ill., Shirley Lantz of Arkdale, Wis., and Barbara Gabbarb and her husband, Clyde, of Chadwick, Ill.; two sons, James Vruble and his wife, Barbara, of Necedah, Wis., and Robert Vruble and his wife Sandra, of Taylor Ridge, Ill.; a brother, Stanley Vruble of Melrose Park, Ill; 37 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
  He worked at K. I. Willis Corp. in Moline, Ill., for 10 years, retiring in 1973. In earlier years he was a coal miner in the Centerville area and worked for Mott Construction Co. in Centerville in the 1950s. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Rock Island, Ill.
  Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at St. Mary's Church in Rock Island, Ill. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Wheelan Funeral Home in Rock Island, Ill., with a rosary to be recited at 8 p.m.  There will be a commital service at noon Monday, Dec. 23, at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville.
  Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville.
