Essie May Fry Loofbourrow, 1885-1975

  Mrs. Essie May Loofbourrow, 89, a lifelong resident of Appanoose County, who had resided at 619 West State Street, Centerville, the past 10 years, died in Wayne County Hospital in Corydon Thursday, March 6, 1975.  She had suffered ill health one year, and had been hospitalized three days.
  Born November 19, 1885, West of Centerville, she was the daughter of Isaac and Tabitha Brannon Fry. She was married to Robert Hileman in 1903, and he died January 16, 1912. On March 17, 1917, she was married to David Loofbourrow in Wayne County, and he preceded her in death June 3, 1942.
  Mrs. Loofbourrow, a longtime resident of Jerome, was a member of Jerome Methodist Church. Her parents, an infant sister Chloe, and two brothers, Vernie and Earl Fry, preceded her in death.
  Survivors include two sons, James Hileman and Merle Loofbourrow, both of Centerville Route 3, three grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Jessie) Bear, Panarama, Calif.; and Mrs. Robert (Helen) Bear, Centerville.
  Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glen Lochhead officiating. Burial will be in Jerome Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 8 p.m.

Merle Loofbourrow, 1919-1999

  Merle Loofbourrow, 79, of Centerville died Wednesday, June 23, 1999, at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital.
  He was born Aug. 6, 1919, in Centerville, the son of David and Essie Mae (Fry) Loofbourrow.
  He married Helen Link Sept.; 27, 1942, in Centerville. She survives.
  Also surviving are three sons, Ron Loofbourrow of Dewey, Okla., Don Loofbourrow and his wife, Jan, of West Liberty and David Loofbourrow and his wife, Theresa, of Centerville; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law; and a sister-in-law.
  He was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother, James Hileman.
  He attended Jerome High School until the 10th grade and graduated from Centerville High School. He was assistant caretaker of Jerome Cemetery and farmed. His farm became a Century Farm in 1993 and he lived there until his death.
  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Johnson-Lange Funeral Home with the Revs. Carl Heien and David Ratchford officiating. Burial will be in the Jerome Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today, Friday.
  A memorial has been established to the Jerome Cemetery and contributions may be left at the funeral home. 

Fern Clinkenbeard Hileman, 1906-2003

  Fern Hileman, 96, of Centerville died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Seymour Care Center in Seymour.
  She was born Dec. 30, 1906, in Exline, the daughter of Frank and Maggie (Davis) Clinkenbeard.
  She married James Hileman June 30, 1924. He preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1999.
  Survivors include nieces and nephews.
  Also preceding her in death were her parents; five brothers, Rex, Mearl, Laurel, Kenneth and Chester Clinkenbeard; and a sister, Cora Freeborn.
  She received her education in the Exline Community Schools. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Centerville.
  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Lloyd Johnston of the First Baptist Church in Centerville officiating. Burial will follow in Jerome Cemetery in Jerome.
  Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends between 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
  Memorial contributions may be given to Jerome Cemetery or First Baptist Church in Centerville and contributions may be left at or mailed to the Schmidt Family Funeral Home, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, IA 52544.

James Hileman, 1905-1999

  James Thomas Hileman, 93, of Centerville died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital.
  He was born March 9, 1905, in Jerome, the son of Robert and Essie (Fry) Hileman.
  He married Fern Clinkenbeard June 30, 1924. She survives.
  Also surviving are a half-brother, Merle Loofbourrow of Centerville and brother-in-law, Kenneth Clinkenbeard of Rockford, Ill.
  Also preceding him in death were his parents.
  He received his education in Jerome schools. He hauled gravel and limestone in and around Appanoose County for 42 years. He was also a farmer.
  Funeral services were held Monday at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the Rev. Lloyd Johnston officiating. Burial was in Jerome Cemetery in Jerome. There was a visitation before the services.
  Memorials may be given to the Jerome Cemetery and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
