Former Promise City, Jerome Pastor Dies
The Rev. Francis Brooks Harris, 46, a former pastor in the Promise City and Jerome Methodist churches, died July 2 at the home of his father, Dr. Fred R. Harris, in Hillsboro, Ill.
He had been in failing health for the past five years, having been forced to resign from his last pastorate at Kent.
Service of the Rev. Mr. Harris in Promise City and Jerome was in 1937 and 1938.

FRANCIS BROOKS HARRIS, son of Dr. Fred R. and Nellie Harris, was born in Hillsboro, Illinois, on July 10, 1906, and died at the early age of 46, July 2, 1952, at the home of his father in Hillsboro. He received his early education in the Hillsboro schools. He graduated from the Illinois Wesleyan University and Boston University School of Theology. He joined the Iowa-Des Moines Conference on trial in 1937, beginning his ministry in Promise City. He later served charges at Yorktown, Conway, Peru, Orient, Redding and Kent. He took the retired relation in 1948. October 18, 1941, he was united in marriage to Miss Ruby Martin, in the Methodist Church at Yorktown. To this union a daughter, Margaret Ann, was born. Besides his wife and daughter, he is survived by his aged father, a brother, Charles, and a sister, Helen Harris, all of Hillsboro. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery in Hillsboro, Illinois.
