Ervin Douglas (better known as Dugie) Moore,
son of Joel Moore and Mary VanDorn Moore, was born in Jerome, Iowa, June 29,
1897, and passed away at the St. Joseph’s hospital in Centerville June 29,
1960, at the age of 63 years.
He was united in marriage to Alice Fox on
Aug. 2, 1918, and to this union six children were born. Ervin Wendell, who preceded him in death
Sept. 24, 1920, William Kenneth of East Moline, Ill., Wayne Robert and Willard
LaVern of Seymour, Mrs. Helen Mae Jones of Millerton and Marianna Kae, at home.
Three sisters also survive, Mrs. Gertie
Hudson of St. Joseph, Mo., Mrs. Etta Phillips of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Mrs.
Ocie Huston of St. Joseph.
There are five grandchildren, Stanley and
Gary Lee Moore of East Moline, Ill., Rickey and Robin Moore of Seymour and
Tammie Jones of Millerton; one great-grandchild, Bobbi Lea Moore of Moline,
Ill., two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Moore of East Moline, Ill., and Mrs.
Elizabeth Moore of Seymour, and one son-in-law, Larry Jones of Millerton.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
three sisters, a brother and two grandchildren, Bobby Lee Moore and Terry Lee
Moore. He also leaves to mourn his
passing a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His entire life was spent in Appanoose and
Wayne counties. For the past few years
he has been on employee of Wayne county.
He was a kind and loving father, husband and grandfather and will be
sadly missed by all.
A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is still,
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
Funeral services were conducted from the
Liggett Funeral home in Seymour Friday, July 1, at 2 o’clock with the Rev.
Clive Cook of Seymour EUB church officiating.
Richard Walker sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “Goodnight Here, Good
Morning There,” accompanied by Mrs. John Wickam at the piano. Pallbears were Wayne county employees, Jesse
Roberts, Miles VanFleet, Earl Henderson, Howard Frank, Ralph Foster and Joe
Curtis.
Flower ladies were Mrs. Virgie Jonas, Mrs.
Anna Mae Richardson, Mrs. Mary Best, Mrs. Virginia Kauzlarich and Mrs. Edith
Fry.
CARD OF THANKS
We wish to thank our many relatives,
neighbors and friends for the food that was brought in, for the beautiful
flowers, for the sympathy cards that we received and all of the other help that
we received at the time of our loss of our loved one. A special thanks to Dr. Brummitt, sisters,
nurses and nurses aides and the staff of St. Joseph’s hospital at Centerville
and to Elvin Liggett our funeral director.
Words cannot express how much we appreciated
everything and we sincerely want to thank each and every one of you. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
