Beulah Hope Bland Beck, 1921-2004

  Former Numa resident Beulah Hope (Bland) Beck passed away March 9, 2004 in Brandon, Fla. She was born on Jan. 5, 1921, in Altamont, Mo., the daughter of Edwin and Leah Hope (Howard) Bland. The family moved to Numa where her father was the depot agent for the Rock Island Railroad until his death in 1930. Her mother died two years later leaving Beulah and her two brothers and four sisters to be cared for by their aunt, Martha Howard, in the Bland home located directly across the street from the Numa School where she graduated with the class of 1938.
  She moved to California where she met and married Herbert (Herb) Beck on Nov. 8, 1945. Bea (Beulah) lived most of her life in the San Francisco Bay area where she was a realtor. After retirement she moved to Tampa, Fla., to be near her daughter and family.
  Beulah is survived by her daughter, Judy Lynn, of Tampa, Fla.; a son, Phil, of Oregon; two grandchildren, Loren and Crissy; and two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including June Adams Moore of Centerville, Marilyn Bland Pettit of Moulton, Sandy Bland Stump of Chariton and former residents Ed Shaw of Indianola, Terry Wojcik of Raleigh, N. C., Richard Inman of Hamilton, Ohio, and Jerri Moriarty of Gillette, Wyo.
  Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; three brothers, Edwin (in infancy), James (Jim) and Herbert (Herb) Bland; and sisters, Norma Crowder, Ruth Inman, Dorthy Adams Miller and Francis (Fran) Wojcik.
