Ella Thomas Sidles, 1861-1936

 Friends and relatives were sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Geo. Sidles. She has been a long time resident of this vicinity and will be greatly missed by many relatives and friends. We extend sympathy to the bereaved ones.

  Ella Thomas, daughter of Asbury and Mary Thomas, was born in Concord vicinity of Appanoose county, Iowa, on August 18, 1861, and passed away at her home near Jerome, Iowa, on December 2, 1936, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 14 days.
  On September 1, 1892, she was united in marriage to George Sidles, who preceded her in death October 5, 1923. 
  To this union were born seven children, Joe of Seymour, Iowa, Georgia, a teacher in Sioux City schools, Mary of Martinsville, New Jersey; Peter of Jerome, Martha, a teacher in the Washington schools; Edmund, who died in infancy; and George, of Jerome.
  In early life she united with the Baptist Church at Concord, but after she came to Jerome she transferred to the Methodist Episcopal church at that place.
  Funeral services were held at the Jerome M. E. church on Friday, December 4 at 2 p.m. in charge of Rev. James A. Wilson, a former pastor, assisted by Rev. Harris local minister.
  Out of town relatives who attended the services included Mr. and Mrs. Lew Arnett of Milton, Iowa, Mr. Irvin Bowers, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Williams, and Mrs. Charles Booth of Libertyville, Ia., Mrs. Carroll Laymon of Batavia, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sedgwick of St. Louis, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sedgwick of Centerville, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Harrison McCloud, of Walnut City, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Strepy (sic) of Unionville, Ia, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Condra of Numa, Iowa.
