Peter Sidles, 1897-1974

  Peter Sidles of Route 5, Centerville (Jerome) died Saturday, May 18, 1974, 11 a.m., in Bethel Park, Pa.  He was 76.
  Born in Appanoose County, Ia., May 28, 1897, he was the son of George I. and Ella Thomas Sidles. He was married to Selma Johnson in Oskaloosa October 10, 1920. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War I.
  Surviving are his wife, five children, Paul Howard Sidles of Ames; Harry A. Sidles, Centerville; Mrs. Marilyn Virginia Streiff, Bethel Park, Pa.; James Sidles, Richardsfield, Ohio; Peter Sidles Jr.,, Oswsego, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Orr of Mesa, Ariz.; and Mrs. Mary Mills of Runnells, Ia.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Georgia Sidles, and three brothers, George, Joe and Edmund Sidles.
  Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Jerome United Methodist Church, with the Rev. George Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Jerome Cemetery. Memorials are being accepted to the Jerome United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.

    2. Dan, I knew your Grandpa in Jerome many years ago when I was a boy .. and some of his children. Who was your father? Harry, Howard, Peter or James? I knew the twins Peter and Jim.
