Etta Jane Moore Phillips, 1884-1969

  Etta Jane Phillips, age 83, longtime resident of the Cincinnati Community, passed away suddenly at her home in Cincinnati, at 6 p.m., Friday evening [2 February 1969].
  Born in Kansas on Feb. 21, 1884, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Van Dorn Moore. She was married to William E. Phillips who preceded her in death Aug. 2, 1952. The family moved to Jerome from Kansas, then moved to Numa and spent their later years in Cincinnati.  They also lived in Wyoming.
  Surviving are five children, Oren Phillips, Centerville; Delmar Phillips, Laramie, Wyo.; James Phillips, Cincinnati; Woodrow Phillips, Laramie, Wyo., and Grace McQueen  of Rock Springs, Wyo.
  Other survivors include a sister, Gertrude Hudson of St. Joseph, Mo.; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
  She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, a daughter, a granddaughter, two brothers and four sisters.
  Funeral services were held Monday, at 1:30 p.m. from Johnson Funeral Home with burial in the Jerome cemetery. Rev. Kermit Gladfelder will officiate.

  Etta Jane Phillips, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Van Dorn Moore, was born in Kansas Feb. 21, 1884, and passed away at the home of her son James in Cincinnati, Iowa, on Feb. 2, 1968, being at the time of her death 83 years, 11 months and 12 days old.
  On Oct. 17, 1904, she was married to William E. Phillips. To this union seven children were born.
  Her husband, two small children, one granddaughter, four sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
  The five surviving children are: Oren of Centerville, Delmar and Woodrow, both of Laramie, Wyo., James of Cincinnati, Iowa and Grace of Rock Springs, Wyo.
  One sister, Mrs. Gertrude Hudson of St. Joseph, Mo., also survives.
  She was a member of the Methodist Church in Jerome, Iowa, in early life. She led a quiet home life and will be sadly missed by all her loved ones.
  Following services at the Johnson Funeral Home she was laid to rest beside her husband in the Jerome cemetery. Rev. Gladfelder conducted the services.
