Lila Lee Thomas, 1933-2007

  Lila Lee Thomas, age 74 of Centerville, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.
  Lila was born on May 7, 1933 the daughter of Frank and May (Fisher) Thomas. She attended the Centerville schools graduating from Centerville High School with the class of 1951.
  She later moved to Des Moines and worked for Joseph’s Jewelry Store and as a telephone operator both in Des Moines and after she returned to Centerville. In 1964, she began working for Union Carbide/Curwood, retiring in 1995. Lila was an active member and devout Christian of the First Baptist Church in Centerville. She also enjoyed reading and traveling both in the United States and overseas, and she enjoyed playing her piano and listening to music. Lila dearly loved her family, all her brothers and sisters and especially her nieces and nephews.
  Lila is survived by her twin brother Larry Thomas and his wife, Lori, of Davenport and her sister Virginia Cornett of Centerville; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
  She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Eddie Thomas, Charlotte Curtis, Gustava Marshall, Maurine Thomas, Marie Archer, Lloyd Thomas, Floyd Thomas, June White, Leonora Anders and Mildred Karth.
  Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home with Pastor Lloyd Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in the Jerome Cemetery.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, June 12, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
  A memorial has been established to the Forest Lake Baptist Church Camp in Ottumwa or to the Golden Age Care Center Bird Aviary and contributions may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S.18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
