Obituary: Joanne Morris Long

  Joanne Long, age 77, of Centerville, died Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
  She was born the daughter of James and Esther (Day) Morris on May 7, 1930 near Jerome. She attended a rural Appanoose County Country School.
  On June 7, 1952, Joanne was united in marriage to Darl Long in Jerome.
  They farmed together in Appanoose County for many years. She was a member of the Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Centerville where she taught Sunday school for several years.  
  She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Darl Long on Dec. 12, 1996; sisters, Carolyn Leaming, Jeanette Condra and Martha Kline; and a brother, Charles Morris.  Joanne is survived by: her son, Gary and his wife, Marla Long of Centerville; and a daughter, Janie and her husband, Tim Bailey of Centerville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brothers, Paul Morris of Plano, James Morris of Sublette, Kan., and John Morris of La.; and a sister, Mary Lou Morris of Jerome.
  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, at 1:30 p.m. at the Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Centerville with Rev. Dennis St. Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in the Hanes Cemetery north of Centerville.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
