Alice E. Fox Moore, 1900-1964

  Alice E. Moore, daughter of Charles W. Fox and Mary Kelly, was born in Jerome, Iowa, Nov. 10, 1900, and passed away at the Wayne county hospital in Corydon, Iowa, Sept. 3, 1964, at the age of 63 years, nine months and 22 days.
  She was united in marriage to Douglas Ervin Moore Aug. 2, 1918.  To this union were born six children, Ervin Wendell, who preceded her in death, William Kenneth of East Moline, Ill., Wayne Robert and Williard LaVerne of Seymour, Mrs. Larry (Helen Rae) Jones at Corydon, and Mrs. Bill (Marianna) Dodson Jr of Montrose, Colo.
  Five sisters also survive, Mrs. Jessie Warren of Garden Grove, Calif., Mrs. Stella Kirchner of Menomonee Falls, Wisc., Mrs. Margurite Formaro and Mrs. Goldie McKinley of Des Moines and Mrs. Evelyn Sebben of Seymour.  There are three brothers, Charles E. Fox of Centerville, James Fox and Abraham Lincoln Fox of Bettendorf.
  She also leaves eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law and a host of other relatives.
  She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Ervin, one son in infancy, two sisters, one granddaughter, Terry Lee Moore, and one grandson, Bobby Lee Moore.
  Her entire life was spent in Appanoose and Wayne counties.  For the past several years she was a resident of Seymour.  She was a kind and loving mother, wife and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all.
  A precious one from us is gone,
  A voice we loved is still,
  A place is vacant in our home,
  Which never can be filled.
  The funeral was Sunday, Sept. 6, at 2:30 at the Liggett Funeral Home in Seymour with Oscar Sharp of Corydon officiating.  Vernon Gold Jr. sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “Goodnight Here, Good Morning Up There.”  He was accompanied by Mrs. John Wickam.
  Burial was at Jerome.
  Pallbears were Jesse Wayne Roberts, Hiatt Butler, Farris Wade, Byran VanDorn, Junior Harbert and Dolpha Bone.
  Flower ladies were Mrs. Virgie Jonas, Mrs. Geneva Huston, Mrs. Roger Rietal and Mrs. Robert Schubert.
  Among the relatives from out of town who attended were Mr. and Mrs. William Kenneth Moore and son of East Moline, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Larry Jones of Corydon, Mrs. William Dodson Jr. of Montrose, Colo., Mrs. Stella Kirchner and family of Menomonee Falls, Wisc, Mrs. Margurite Formaro and Mrs. Goldie McKinley of Des Moines, Charles E. Fox and family of Centerville, James Fox and family and Abraham Lincoln Fox and family of Bettendorf, Mrs. Gertie Hudson, Mrs. Ocie Huston and Mrs. Etta Phillips, all of St. Joseph, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. James Jonas, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shubert, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Huston, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Rietal, all of St. Joseph, Mo., Oren Phillips and Mr. and Mrs. James Phillips of Cincinnati and Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Fox of Centerville.

CARD OF THANKS

  We wish to thank our many relatives, neighbors and friends for the food that was brought in, for the beautiful flowers, for the sympathy cards that we received and all the other help that we received at the time of the loss of our loved one.  A special thanks to Dr. Garber, nurses and nurses aides and the staff of Wayne county hospital at Corydon and to Elvin Liggett, our funeral director.
  Words cannot express how much we appreciate everything and we sincerely want to thank each and every one of you.  Your kindness will never be forgotten.
