Howard E. Hart, 1890-1947

  Howard E. Hart, son of Henry and Margaret Hart, was born May 8, 1890 and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. R. Hefner at Jerome on Nov. 3, 1947.
  He was united in marriage January 10, 1911 to Cleo Green and to this union one daughter and two sons were born: Harriet Hefner of Jerome, Iowa, Loran of Gary, Indiana, and Harold of Chicago, Ill.
  He was born in Wayne County, Iowa, and grew to man-hood in and around Promise City, then later moved to Seymour, and then to Jerome where he lived until the death of his wife four years ago this coming December.
  He leaves to mourn his passing his three children, two grandchildren: Colleen and Norman Hefner; and six sisters and four brothers, who are: Elsie Guthrie of Russell, Iowa; Stella Chadwick of Saskatchewan, Canada; George Hart of Centerville; Etta Curtis of Corydon, Iowa; Marie Cheathem of Lynwood, Cal.; Colas Hellyer of Seymour, Iowa; Cree Hart of Des Moines, Iowa; Clyde Hart of Centerville, Iowa; and Russell Hart of Davenport, Iowa; besides a host of relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his father, mother and one brother.
  From the Ruby Undertaking Parlor at Seymour his body was taken to the Jerome Methodist Church, where services were held Wed., Nov. 5 at 2 P.M., with its pastor, the Rev. M. R. Gonzalez, officiating.  Mrs. Hazel Felkner of Jerome played comforting hymns for about 15 minutes before and after the funeral cortege arrived at the Church.  Mrs. Norma McMurray of Promise City, a Niece of the deceased, say “In The Garden,” accompanied by Mrs. Felkner.  He was laid to rest by the side of his wife in the Jerome Cemetery.
  Jerome and surrounding community join his bereaved children in the passing of a loving father, a devoted husband and a kind friend.  He was well liked and respected, and enjoyed helping his fellowmen.
