Leonora Ruth Anders, 58, well-known
Centerville resident who made her home at 1112 West Maple Street, died
unexpectedly Saturday, November 11, 1978, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, shortly
after being admitted.
Born July 23, 1920, she was the daughter of
Frank and Alpharetta Mae Fisher Thomas. On October 22, 1938, she was married to
Harold F. Anders, in Unionville, Mo., and he preceded her in death August 16,
1976.
She was a member of First Baptist Church,
Centerville, and had been employed as a nurses (sic) aide at the local hospital
since 1964.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in
death by her parents, a daughter, Lorelei, and one brother, Floyd Thomas.
Surviving are four sons, Phillip,
Lawrenceville, Ga.; Ronald, Chapel Hill, N.C.; Dennis, McComb, Miss.; and
Thomas, Centerville; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Deborah) Hiatt, Centerville; and
Mrs. Gary (Mary) Wood, Oskaloosa; ten grandchildren, three brothers, Ed Thomas
of Centerville and Lloyd Thomas and Larry Thomas, both of Davenport, eight
sisters, Charlotte Curtis, Gustava Marshall, Mildred Karth, Virginia Cornett,
Maurine Thomas, Lila Thomas, all of Centerville; June White, Corpus Christi,
Tex., and Marie Archer, Rockford, Ill.
Services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at
First Baptist Church in Centerville, with Dr. Douglas Oelke officiating. Burial
will be in the Jerome Cemetery. The family
will be at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established to her church
and to St. Joseph Hospital, and donations may be left at the funeral home.
