  The funeral services of Mrs. Wm. Bollman were conducted at the M. E. church, Jerome last Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock.  Mrs. Bollman was so well known and universally loved and respected that wide spread grief was caused by the announcement of her death.  She was a woman whose influence socially and religiously was always helpful and pure and her death leaves a vacancy that will be felt by the entire community.

  She was born in Champagne county, Ohio, June 4, 1831.  Died at her home 4½ north east of Seymour on June 28, 1906.  Aged 75 years, 24 days.  She moved with her parents to Davis county, Iowa in 1843.  Her maiden name was Elizabeth Ann Kinney.  She was united in marriage to Wm. Bollman Feb. 22, 1825.  To them were born three children, two girls and one boy.  All of the children were present at the funeral services.

  She was united with the M. E. church in 1843 and was a faithful member to her dying day.  When not prevented by sickness she was regular in her attendance.  The large congregation that gathered at the church and followed the remains to the cemetery only faintly expressed the high esteem in which she had been held and the real sorrow at the great loss.  Sympathy is expressed by many for the bereaved husband and children.

  Edna Marie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Bollman, was born at Jerome, Dec. 29, 1895, and died at Colorado Springs, Aug. 1, 1915, of pulmonary tuberculosis.

  Funeral services were held at Jerome M.E. church Friday, Aug. 6, the oration being delivered by Rev. Krenmeyer, a former pastor at that place.  At the close of the sermon a beautiful solo, “Good Night,” was rendered by Miss Elsie White.

  Miss Edna was a girl of exceptional intelligence, varied talents, and rare ambitions. When she grew ill, at the beginning of the year, she was a student at Cedar Falls college and would have graduated the past spring had not ill health interfered.

  She was taken to Colorado Springs with the hope of the climate being beneficial, but no medical skill, careful nursing, or devotion of loved ones could stop the ravages of disease or stay the hand of death.  We are persuaded, however, that our loss is Heaven’s gain.  She was a devoted Christian, and the church at Jerome of which she was a member, has lost one of its most valued members.

  Rev. Krenmeyer used as a symbol, heads of wheat,   and talked from the subject, Sowing and Storing Our Lives,” quoting the scripture, “Whosoever will save his life shall lose it; and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.”  He paid glowing tribute to the young life that had come to such an abrupt close, telling how he had sowed her life that the world might be better because she had lived.

  That she was not only loving, but lovable was attested by the great throng of people who attended the obsequies, many coming from a distance by auto and train to look once more on the fair face of her who they had loved.

  Many and beautiful were the floral offerings, the casket and altar being one great mass of flowers. The Iowa club, of which she was s member and officer, sent a piece of forty-two pink and white carnations with ferns.

  Interment was made in the Jerome cemetery.

  Countless friends extend sympathy to the parents in this loss of their only child, also to the many relatives who will miss her cheerful companionship.

  Clarence C. Bollman, son of William N. Bollman and Elizabeth Ann Kinney, was born March 24, 1868, in Lincoln township in Appanoose county.  He united in marriage with Anna A. Sedgwick in May 1894.  To this union was born one child, Edna Marie, who passed away in 1915.  The wife, Anna, departed this life in 1936.

  He married Lydia Hickie in Dec. 1937. He spent his entire life in Appanoose county and passed away at the St. Joseph’s hospital in Centerville on Oct. 15, 1942 at the age of 74 years, after a short illness.

  A few days before his death he accepted the Lord Jesus as his own personal savior.

  Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Jerome Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with W. W. White officiating.  Music by David and Edna Lawrence with Zelda Workman at the piano.  Burial was at the Jerome cemetery.

..William Neighbors, 88, Cincinnati, died at his home Wednesday, Oct. 10, 1984.

..Born July 27, 1896, at Howland, Mo., he was the son of William and Mary Ellen Carter Neighbors.  He was married to Lillie Yost on Nov. 29, 1939, in the Baptist Church in Unionville, Mo.

..He had been engaged in farming all his life.

..Survivors include his wife, and nieces and nephews.

..He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

..Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Pastor Virgil Sweeney officiating.  Interment will be in Jerome Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday.

  Lillie Neighbors, 89, Cincinnati died Thursday, December 26, 1996, at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital.

  She was born Aug. 3, 1907, in Fairview, W.Va., the daughter of Louis and Addie (Shriver) Yost.

  She married William Neighbors Nov. 29, 1939, at the Baptist Church in Unionville, Mo.  He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1984.

  Survivors include three sisters, Ellen Condra of Seymour, Lela Radcliff of Chariton and Thelma DeVore of Promise City; and several nieces and nephews.

  Also preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters, Mary Yost and Rilla Yost.

  She was a graduate of Seymour High School and a member of the Seymour Methodist Church.

  Graveside services will be held at noon today, Monday, at the Jerome Cemetery with the Rev. Gerald Campbell officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9 to 11:45 a.m. today at the Lange Funeral Home.

  Elmer David Salasberry, 66, a resident of Newton for 35 years died Friday evening, May 29, 1992, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines of cardiac arrest.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
  The Rev. Roy Cupples of Grand Island, Nebraska conducted services. Burial was in Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.
  Memorials to fund in his name will be accepted.
  Survivors are his wife, Iris; two sons, David of Des Moines and Randy of Newton; three daughters, Joyce Breckenridge of Monroe and Joleen Sutphin and Brenda Van Hoose, both of Newton; 10 grandchildren; and a great grandson.
  Also surviving are his mother, Nellie Salasberry of Centerville; three brothers, Albert of Tempe, Arizona, and Lawrence and Gene, both of Des Moines; and three sisters, Velma Gerling of Des Moines, Mary Thomas of Centerville and Pat Gibford of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers and a sister.
  Mr. Salasberry was a welder at Midwest Manufacturing Co. in Kellogg until his retirement.
  The son of William Henry and Nellie Phelps Salasberry, he was born January 22, 1926, in Mystic.
  He was married to Iris M. Seals December 23, 1950 in Urbandale, Missouri.

Edgar W. Stone

  Edgar Stone was born October 5, 1910 at Achillis, Kansas, the son of Clara Burns and Samuel Stone.  He passed away October 8, 1985 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon at the age of 75 years and 4 days.

  As a very small boy the family moved to Summer, Nebraska where they lived for a year before buying at Amherst, Nebraska where he received his schooling and was living when he married Lora Carter at Grand Island, Nebraska.  They spent a few years there farming during the depression.  In 1940 he rented his uncle Charley Burns farm at Jerome, Iowa and worked at the mine. In 1958 they bought their present farm and have resided there since.

  Preceding him were his parents, a baby sister, and three brothers, Carl, Raymond, and Lee.

  Edgar leaves his wife Lora, son Harold and wife Sharon, three grandchildren; Wanita and Michael Gibbs of Promise City, Iowa; Annette of Canton, Missouri; and Peter stationed at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina and one great-granddaughter Trenna.  Also two brothers Roy of Moulton, Iowa and Ernest of Elm Creek, Nebraska, two sisters Opal Ludwig of Browning, Missouri and Margaret Epp of Kearney, Nebraska and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

  Services were held on Saturday, October 12, 1985, at 1:30 P.M. from the Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour with Cortiss Fry, officiating.  Organ selections “The Old Rugged Cross” and “What a Friend We Have In Jesus” were played.  The pallbearers were: Michael Gibbs, Ronnie Ludwig, Larry Ludwig, Dean Ludwig, Jerry Ludwig and Sam Stone.

  Interment was in the Jerome Cemetery at Jerome, Iowa.

  There was a memorial to either the Wayne County Hospital or the Wayne County Cancer Society.

    Frank McKin was born in New York City.  He came to Iowa on an Orphan Train and was raised by David Tharp Zimmerman and Catherine ‘Katie’ Carson.

Frank McKin Dies at 88

  Frank McKin, 88, who made his home for 30 years in the vicinity of the beautiful Hat Six Falls canyon at the east end of Casper Mountain, died Friday evening in Natrona Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.
  A resident of the Casper area since 1919, he first worked for the old Midwest Refinery (predecessor of Standard and American Oil Company), then later tuned his attention to ranching. In 1932 he established his home site in the Hat Six area.
  He was born Jan. 4, 1875, in New York City, and as a child moved to Jerome, Iowa, where he received his early schooling. His earlier years were spent in farming.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Loyal Order of Moose.
  Two daughters survive: Mrs. Eloise Harris and Mrs. Helen Hutchcraft, both of Casper. A son, Richard Z. McKin, also resides in Casper. There are seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death April 1947.
  Services will be held at the Bustard Funeral Home Tuesday at 11 a.m., with interment following in the family plot at Highland Cemetery.

Mrs. McKin Dies Suddenly Here

  Mrs. Essie McKin, a resident of Casper since 1920, died at the Memorial Hospital Tuesday morning after a brief illness. She was 60.
  Mrs. McKin was born Sept. 29, 1886, at Jerome, Iowa, where she was reared and attended the public schools. Coming to Casper in June 1920, she made her home continuously here since that time, rearing her family. During the past several years she was associated with the J.C. Penney Company, in the book department.
  She was a member of the First Methodist Church and Casper Chapter No. 4 of the Order of Eastern Star.
  Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Mollie Moore, of East Moline, Ill.; her daughter, Mrs. D. A. Hutchcraft, with whom she made her home at 135 South Washington, and another daughter, Mrs. P. O. Harris, also of Casper; a son, Richard Z McKin; and three brothers, Harry Moore, East Moline; Daniel Moore, Des Moines; and Byron Moore, of Barberton, Ohio. Seven grandchildren also survive.
  Services have been set tentatively for Friday at the Bustard Funeral Home. Interment will be in Highland cemetery.

  Frank A. Moore was born in Appanoose County, Iowa, June 30, 1903, son of James Albert and Amelia “Millie” (Hibbs) Moore, died in Carlisle, Warren County, Iowa, in September 1980 and was buried in the Jerome Cemetery.  He married in Walnut City, Appanoose County, Iowa, September 13, 1920, Golden M. Lowe who was born in Brazil, Appanoose County, Iowa, January 16, 1904, daughter of Willard Woodson and Margaret Elizabeth (Stearns) Lowe, died in Carlisle, Warren County, Iowa, August 2, 1981, and was buried in the Jerome Cemetery next to her husband.

  MYSTIC – Elizabeth Carolyn (Betty) Lowe, 89, of Brazil, Ia., passed away at the St. Joseph Hospital at 6 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, where she had been a patient since Wednesday evening.

  She was born in Desare, Mo., May 13, 1872, the daughter of Elisha and Denisha Jones Stearns.  She came to Brazil 82 years ago, and had lived in the present home for 69 years.

  She was married to Willard Lowe July 2, 1893, who preceded her in death in July of 1957. Besides her husband, she was preceded by four children, who died in infancy.

  Surviving are two daughters, Golden Moore of Hartford, Iowa, and Janet Palmer of Mt. Carmel, Pa.; five sons, Jesse of Brazil, Roy of Centerville, Ray of Pontiac, Mich., Carl of Waterloo and Arthur of Ft. Madison; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Joe Stearns of Centerville.

  Funeral services were held today, August 14, at 2 p.m., from the Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home.  Rev. Burton Simms, pastor of the Mystic Christian Church, officiated, with burial in the Philadelphia Cemetery.

William Woodson Lowe, 1872-1957

  Willard W. Lowe died suddenly Saturday evening, July 27 at the University Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 84 years, eight months and ten days.

  Mr. Lowe had undergone surgery July 17, and was improving nicely.  He had planned to return to his home at Brazil Monday, but suffered a sudden cerebral hemorrhage Saturday evening, with death resulting.

  Mr. Lowe was well known, and liked in the community, and relatives and friends were shocked at his passing.

  He was born Nov. 17, 1872.  He and Mrs. Lowe celebrated their 64^th wedding anniversary July 2.  They had started housekeeping in the same home in which they lived at the time of his death.  He was active as a miner in his earlier years, and for 30 years before his retirement, operated his own mine.

  Mr. Lowe was married to Elizabeth Stearns July 2, 1893.  She survives, along with five sons, Jesse Lowe of Brazil, Roy Lowe of Centerville, Ray Lowe, Pontiac, Mich.; Wilford Lowe of Ft. Madison; two daughters, Mrs. Golden Moore of Carlisle, Iowa, and Mrs. Janet Palmer, Mt. Carmel, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Myers, Webster, Wis.; and Mrs. Neela Law, Wheaton, Ill.; three brothers, Charles Lowe, Centerville; Ed Lowe, Cincinnati; and a twin brother, Millard Lowe of Waterloo; and nieces and nephews.  Four children preceded him in death, dying in infancy.

  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Brazil. The body will be at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Mystic.
